<div><br>
<br>
KTH in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Swedens
<div>technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and </div>
<div>research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes architecture, industrial </div>
<div>management and urban planning. There are a total of just over 15,000 first and second level students and </div>
<div>more than 1,600 doctoral students. KTH has almost 4,300 employees.<br>
<br>
The School of Electrical Engineering conducts research and education in the fields of electrical engineering, </div>
<div>systems engineering, information and communications theory, space and fusion plasma physics, and electrical </div>
<div>power engineering. 360 people work in this creative and dynamic environment, out of which half are Ph.D. students, </div>
<div>many from other countries. Our research projects are carried out in close collaboration with industry partners as </div>
<div>well as with research colleagues from Sweden and other countries. The school is responsible for educating civil </div>
<div>engineers in electrical engineering and five masters programs which are in great demand and which have a close </div>
<div>connection to our main fields.<br>
<br>
The Automatic Control Lab conducts fundamental research in optimization and control of communication systems, </div>
<div>networked control systems, and systems theory. Industrial projects involve partners such as Ericsson Research and</div>
<div>ABB Network Automation. A major part of the research is conducted within the ACCESS Linnaeus Centre, Europes </div>
<div>largest university research centre in networked systems, and in EU-projects in collaboration with European industry </div>
<div>and universities. We have a large academic network and collaborate with researchers at Caltech, ETH Zurich, MIT, </div>
<div>UC Berkeley, Stanford, among others.<br>
<br>
We are currently looking for 1-3 PhD students with a strong background and interest in mathematics, optimization, </div>
<div>networking, control and systems theory.<br>
<br>
Our research projects will support these PhD students within the areas of<br>
<br>
<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "></span> Estimation, learning, and classification from large datasets such as medical data;<br>
</div>
<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "></span> Optimization, dynamic modeling and adaptation of future wireless networks;<br>
</div>
<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "></span> Privacy preserving optimization over networks;<br>
</div>
<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space: pre; "></span> Wireless networks at a large and small-scale for medical applications;<br>
</div>

</div>
Qualifications of Candidates<br>
<br>
We seek highly motivated individuals holding an MSc degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, </div>
<div>mathematics, computer science or similar fields. The candidates should have excellent grades and very good </div>
<div>skills in oral and written communication. They should be ready to contribute to an international research group </div>
<div>and a scientific research agenda of major importance for European industry and society. KTH aims to employ a </div>
<div>diversity of talent and thus welcomes applicants who will add to the variety of the University.<br>
<br>
