Nominations, including self nominations, are invited for a three-year term as TOIT EIC, beginning as soon as the position can be filled. The EIC appointment may be renewed once, after review. This is an entirely voluntary position, but ACM will provide appropriate administrative support. The EIC is responsible for maintaining the highest editorial quality, for setting technical direction of the papers published in TOIT, and for maintaining a reasonable pipeline of articles for publication. He/she has final say on acceptance of papers, size of the Editorial Board, and appointment of Associate Editors. The new EIC will transition TOIT to using ManuscriptCentral to handle submissions. The EIC is expected to adhere to the commitments expressed in the ACM Publishing Rights and Responsibilities Policy (http://www.acm.org/pubs/rights.html). For more information about the role of the EIC, see http://www.acm.org/pubs/editors_manual.html. Nominations should include a c.v. of the nominee, as well as a brief statement of why the nominee should be considered. Self-nominations are encouraged. The deadline for submitting nominations is July 8, 2007, but nominations will be accepted until the position is filled. Please send all nominations to the nominating committee chair, Lorrie Cranor, . The nominating committee members are: Lorrie Cranor, Carnegie Mellon University Erich Nahum, IBM TJ Watson Research Dick Bulterman, Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Yahoo! Areas of interest are the same as those listed in the technical call for papers. While the poster need not describe completed work, it should report on research for which at least preliminary results are available. The poster session will provide a forum for researchers to showcase their work and obtain feedback on ongoing research from knowledgeable conference attendees. Areas of interest are the same as those listed in the technical call for papers. While the poster need not describe completed work, it should report on research for which at least preliminary results are available. We especially encourage submissions by students (that is, for which a student is the first author on the poster). POSTER SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Poster proposals must be submitted as a single PDF file with no more than 3 pages. The first two pages should contain an abstract describing the research content of the poster, along with title, authors, institutional affiliations and contact information. The third page should contain a thumbnail draft of the poster's contents. Please submit your poster proposal as a PDF e-mail attachment to sensys07-poster-chairs AT cs.pdx.edu with the subject line reading "Sensys Poster Submission" before the deadline. Any questions for the Poster Co-chairs Nirupama Bulusu, Portland State Rachel Cardell-Oliver, University of Western Australia may also be directed to this address. IMPORTANT DATES Three-page poster proposal: 11:59pm (PST), July 27, 2007 Notification of acceptance: August 10, 2007 Camera-ready abstract: August 24, 2007 Conference dates: November 6-9, 2007 BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT POSTERS Two-page poster abstracts will appear in the conference proceedings. Authors of accepted poster proposals will have a chance to present the poster to interested attendees during a special poster session at SenSys. Well-crafted posters will tell the story well by themselves, but authors of posters are expected to be available to describe and discuss the work in the poster during the session. The poster dimensions are 30" by 40", with poster contents mounted on rectangular poster board that we will provide. You may choose a layout consisting of individual sheets of paper, or a monolithic large piece of poster paper (which can be printed at document companies). SenSys'07 is very interested in demonstrations of technology, platforms, and applications of wireless sensor networks and their integration with the Web. The demo session of SenSys'07 will provide a forum for researchers to showcase their work and obtain feedback on ongoing research from knowledgeable conference attendees. Areas of interest are the same as those listed in the technical call for papers. Two-page abstracts of accepted demos will be published in the SenSys conference proceedings. Submissions from both industries and universities are encouraged. There will be one Best Student Demo Award and one Best Industry Demo Award. DEMO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS Please send a two-page description of your demo to sensys07-demo-chairs [AT] nicta.com.au with the subject line reading "Sensys Demo Submission" before the deadline. Submissions should be in PDF format. An additional one page appendix can be included in the initial submission but will be removed in published proceedings. Be as specific as possible in describing what you will show. Any questions for the Demonstration Co-chairs Max Ott and Suman Nath may also be directed to this address: sensys07-demo-chairs [AT] nicta.com.au IMPORTANT DATES Demo proposal: 11:59pm (PST), July 27, 2007 Notification of acceptance: August 10, 2007 Camera-ready abstract: August 24, 2007 Conference dates: November 6-9, 2007 Suman Nath, Microsoft Research Max Ott, NICTA, Australia SenSys 2007 Demo Chairs From Bonaventure at info.ucl.ac.be Sat Jun 30 12:19:11 2007 From: Bonaventure at info.ucl.ac.be (Olivier Bonaventure) Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2007 21:19:11 +0200 Subject: [sigcomm] Shadow TPC for CoNEXT 2007 Message-ID: <4686ACAF.3080804@info.ucl.ac.be> Dear colleague, Reviewing and selecting papers by participating at TPC is one of the many facets of the work of researchers. Despite the importance of this work, young researchers are only trained on the spot. In parallel with the CoNext 2007 conference ( http://www.sigcomm.org/co-next2007 ), Laurent Mathy and Olivier Bonaventure organise a shadow TPC for young PhD graduates. The shadow TPC is entirely educational. The members of shadow TPC will write real reviews that will be used to select a programme and will be returned to paper authors. We will contact the authors of papers submitted to CoNEXT2007 to allow them to opt-in to allow the shadow TPC to also review their paper. We will organise the shadow TPC meeting on Sept. 27th and 28th in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium). The shadow TPC meeting will be composed of two parts. During the first part, we will consider the reviews written by the members of the shadow TPC to rank the papers and prepare a shadow programme. During the second part, the shadow TPC will hold a meta-discussion about the process with access to both their own reviews and the anonymized reviews of the real TPC (the CoNEXT2007 TPC members will also be allowed to conceal their reviews from the shadow TPC if they wish so). This discussion will cover how to write a good networking paper, how to review one, and how a conference programme is chosen. You can find additional information about previous experiences with shadow TPCs by reading the paper published by Anja Feldmann about her experience with a SIGCOMM shadow TPC, see http://www.net.in.tum.de/~anja/sigcomm2005/shadow_pc.html and http://www.net.informatik.tu-muenchen.de/~anja/feldmann/papers/shadow.pdf We are now recruiting members for the CoNEXT 2007 shadow TPC. If you are a PhD advisor and feel that someone who recently graduated from your university or will graduate this year would both qualify and benefit from this educational experience, let us know. The shadow TPC will of course, have no influence on the selection of the official Conext 2007 papers. We expect a shadow TPC composed of between 30 and 50 members and each shadow TPC member will have to review about a dozen of papers during the summer and more importantly each shadow TPC member will participate to the shadow TPC meeting in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. When proposing one shadow TPC member, please indicate their main expertise among the CoNext 2007 topics : Internet measurements and modelling Economic aspects of the Internet Implementation and experimental evaluation of network protocols/applications Network security and deep packet inspection Networked games, multimedia applications Routing and traffic engineering Peer-to-peer and overlay networks Wireless and mobile networks Ad hoc and sensors networks Delay and disruption tolerant networks New networking protocols, architectures, and addressing schemes Autonomic and dependable communications We would appreciate if you could send us your proposals for candidate shadow TPC members by July 6th. Best regards, Laurent Mathy and Olivier Bonaventure
